Day 1: Nairobi
Meet with our representative at around 0800 hours, a safari briefing and board your van. Drive North into plush Kikuyu farmlands watching the landscape alternate from rolling green hills to never ending plains. Arrive at the club, in time for lunch check in and relax. The club is set in pristine grounds at the foot of the majestic snow capped Mount Kenya was founded in 1959 by William Holden and has been honored by visits from many celebrities including John Travolta. Time at the club is graced by long lunches and lazy log fire dinners, for the more energetic there is a heated swimming pool, tennis courts, croquet, a golf course, trout fishing, nature / bird walks, horseback riding and an early morning ride on an ox wagon through the club grounds.
There is also an animal orphanage within the club grounds which has cheetahs, the llama, ostriches, zebroids (mixed breed of zebra and a horse), porcupines, baby antelopes, the white tailed Colobus monkeys and a tortoise rumored to be over 100 years old. Day 2: Mount Kenya Safari Club
After breakfast you will be at leisure at the club, with an optional half day excursion to Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Visit the Sweetwater’s Chimpanzee Sanctuary which is the only place in Kenya where you can see the Chimpanzees in the wild. It opened in 1993. Lonrho Africa, the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) and the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) established a facility to receive and provide sanctuary and housing to an original group of 3 chimps orphaned at a young age by the bush-meat trade, now it has grown and harbors approximately 40 chimpanzees. The sole objective of the sanctuary is to provide a safe, secure and permanent refuge for theses chimpanzees.
Sweetwater game reserve is also a Rhino sanctuary and was set up in 1989 and covered an area of 24,000 acres. Dinner and overnight Fairmont, Mount Kenya Safari Club.
Day 3: Nairobi
After breakfast, pack your bags at leisure then check out from the hotel. Board your van and drive back to Nairobi.
