6 Days Kenya Safari



This safari takes you to some of the best Game Reserves in Kenya, if you are lucky enough you will get to spot the Big Five in the Masai Mara Game Reserve and the Special Five in Samburu Game Reserve. The amazing birds, Flamingoes on the shores of Lake Nakuru offer spectacular views as they form a pink hue on the Lake.





Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu Game Reserve

Early morning pick up and itinerary briefing by Abana Safaris Representative. Afterwards you board your van and head North via the shoulder of Africa’s second largest mountain, Mount Kenya, making your way to the Samburu Game Reserve. Arrive at around 1300 hours in time for lunch. After lunch, check in to your camp rest and freshen-up for a while as you get ready to explore the wilderness of Samburu. Proceed for an early-evening game drive in the park famous as the place for the Samburu semi-nomadic tribesmen. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Shaba Game Lodge…..

 Day 2: Samburu Game Reserve

These days are spent viewing game in Samburu Reserve, exploring its open grasslands and diverse landscapes in search of the variety of wildlife found here.

Samburu hosts beautiful forests, springs and rivers, offering stunning scenery. The game park is part of a lava plain that includes varied habitats, from thorn scrub, red dirt and dried river beds, to broken volcanic rock, steep hills and rocky outcrops. This region is home to the uncommon Grevy’s zebra with huge fury ears, gerenuk antelope standing on hind legs to feed, Somali ostriches with distinct blue legs and the shy Oryx. Elephant and crocodile are guaranteed sightings and lion, hippo and giraffe are also found in the reserve. The reserve is also excellent for bird watching, with over 365 species, including varieties of weaverbirds and the martial eagle. Leopard sightings are also a special feature here.

The Samburu area is also home to interesting people with a rich heritage, making for a colorful cultural experience. Dinner and overnight Sarova Shaba Game Lodge…..

Day 3: L. Nakuru

You will enjoy breakfast at the lodge and chock out to proceed to Lake Nakuru. You will have a brief stop to be explained on how the Great Rift Valley was formed at the viewpoint. Named in honour of a Scottish explorer John Walter Gregory, who was the first European to see and research about it, it divides Kenya neatly down the length of the country essentially separating east from west. Arrive in time for lunch, take lunch check in and rest, in the evening you will enjoy a game drive through the park. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge…..

 Day 4: Maasai Mara

After breakfast at the Lodge, you will check out from the lodge, board your van and drive towards the famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve, via the beautiful savannah grasslands and plains in the Great Rift Valley, magnificent views of Mt. Suswa, Mt. Margaret and Mt. Longonot.

This game reserve is among the 9 wonders of the world and is a renowned tourist destination in Kenya, famous for the wildebeest migration along the Mara River. The river is full of Crocodiles and hippos which traverse the Mara. The reserve has high proportions of wildlife and above all one is sure to spot a pride of lions resting or hovering in the fantastic woodland savannah grassland, and also the big five. Other animals expected include; hyenas, antelopes, topis, dikdik, and zebras among others.  Arrive in time for lunch, check in, have lunch and relax. Late evening we will enjoy a short game drive in the park. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Mara Game Camp….

Day 5: Maasai Mara

After breakfast at the camp, you will explore the park’s amazingly high concentration of game. A full day game drive with picnic lunch at the Mara River as you enjoy the scenic view of the crocodiles resting on the brown-muddy river banks. The rolling grasslands of the Maasai Mara offer ideal game viewing and photographic opportunities and the grassy plains are broken by rocky outcrops which are favorite midday resting places for Lion.

This is where millions of Wildebeest cross the Mara River from the Serengeti National park of Tanzania to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve of Kenya – an annual spectacular event, which brings along thousands of plains game and predators to the Mara, making the park a beehive of ‘wildlife activities’. Late afternoon can be spared for an optional visit to the Maasai village to be enlightened on the Maasai culture and perhaps enjoy a Maasai cultural dance. Day 6: Nairobi

After breakfast you will depart your way out of Masai Mara Game Reserve and drive back to Nairobi.
