Day 1: Lake Naivasha
Early morning pick-up and safari briefing by Abana Safaris representative, board your van and off you will drive to Naivasha. Upon arrival at the resort, you will check in and have lunch. Afternoon you will be at leisure, with an optional boat ride on Lake Naivasha in the afternoon. Lake Naivasha is one of the Kenya’s fresh water lakes on the Rift Valley with over 400 bird species and is also the deepest lake on the Rift Valley. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Lake Nakuru
On this day, you will drive to Lake Nakuru National Park after breakfast. Enjoy a game drive in the park, on the shores of the lake famous for its birdlife, especially the Flamingos that form a pink hue across the lake. Animals to be seen include; Lions, Black and White
Rhinos, Leopards, Rothschild giraffes and many others. Packed lunch will be enjoyed at a picnic site in the park. Later in the afternoon you will drive to Dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Samburu Game Reserve
Enjoy breakfast at the resort, check out and, afterwards you board your van and head North via the shoulder of Africa’s second largest mountain, Mount Kenya, making your way to the Samburu Game Reserve. Arrive at around 1300 hours in time for lunch. After lunch, check in to your camp rest and freshen-up for a while as you get ready to explore the wilderness of Samburu. Proceed for an early-evening game drive in the park famous as the place for the Samburu semi-nomadic tribesmen. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Samburu Game Reserve
This day will be spent viewing game in Samburu Reserve, exploring its open grasslands and diverse landscapes in search of the variety of wildlife found here.
Samburu hosts beautiful forests, springs and rivers, offering stunning scenery. The game park is part of a lava plain that includes varied habitats, from thorn scrub, red dirt and dried river beds, to broken volcanic rock, steep hills and rocky outcrops.
This region is home to the uncommon Grevy’s zebra with huge fury ears, gerenuk antelope standing on hind legs to feed, Somali ostriches with distinct blue legs and the shy Oryx. Elephant and crocodile are guaranteed sightings and lion, hippo and giraffe are also found in the reserve. The reserve is also excellent for bird watching, with over 365 species, including varieties of weaverbirds and the martial eagle. Leopard sightings are also a special feature here.
The Samburu area is also home to interesting people with a rich heritage, making for a colorful cultural experience. Dinner and overnight .
Day 5: Nairobi
After breakfast you will depart your way out of Samburu national reserve and drive back to Nairobi.
